The importance of vascular care

Vascular care is vital because the vascular system, which includes all the blood vessels in our body, plays a crucial role in our overall health. It is responsible for transporting oxygen-rich blood from the heart to every part of the body and returning oxygen-depleted blood back to the heart. Any disruption in this system, such as a blockage or narrowing of the blood vessels, can lead to serious health complications. These include stroke, heart disease, and peripheral artery disease, among others. By prioritizing vascular care, we can detect these conditions early, manage them effectively, and, in many cases, prevent them altogether. Regular check-ups, a healthy lifestyle, and timely treatment are all essential components of maintaining good vascular health.

Conditions we address

The Surgical Associates Vascular Center is home to a team of highly proficient and seasoned vascular surgeons. We offer inclusive care for an extensive array of vascular conditions to enhance our patient’s quality of life. We achieve this through accurate diagnosis, effective treatment, and continuous management of vascular health. Conditions we address include:

Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD)

This common circulatory issue arises when arteries narrow, causing reduced blood flow to the limbs.

Critical Limb Ischemia (CLI)

This severe arterial obstruction markedly decreases blood flow to the extremities.

Venous Disease

Venous disease refers to any disease that affects the veins, such as blood clots, deep vein thrombosis, and varicose veins. To address these conditions, we offer treatments such as radiofrequency ablation (RFA), sclerotherapy, and phlebectomies.

Fistulagrams

A fistulagram is a special X-ray procedure that uses contrast (X-ray dye) to look at the blood flow in your fistula or graft. This procedure can check to see if there is a blockage or narrowing affecting the blood flow.

Monitoring your vascular health

Vascular health pertains to the well-being of our body’s vascular system, encompassing all our blood vessels. This includes arteries, responsible for delivering oxygen-rich blood from the heart to the rest of the body, and veins, which return oxygen-depleted blood to the heart. Maintaining robust vascular health is vital as it influences the function of our organs, our physical fitness levels, and our overall lifespan.
