Dr. Alexey Markelov brings experience and skill in aesthetic plastic and reconstructive surgery, facial rejuvenation and body contouring
WAUSAU, WI – Surgical Associates, S.C. is pleased to announce the addition of a plastic surgeon to its primary clinic and Elevé MedSpa, both currently at the same location in Wausau. Dr. Alexey Markelov, who is now seeing patients, is a board-certified aesthetic plastic and reconstructive surgeon and facial rejuvenation and body-contouring specialist.

After earning his medical degree from Astana Medical University in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, Dr. Markelov came to the U.S. for his general surgery residency at Easton Hospital, Drexel University College of Medicine. Following that, he completed his plastic surgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center before going on to serve as a plastic surgeon at North Bend Medical Center in Coos Bay, Oregon.
Amid extensive training with global innovators in the field of plastic surgery, Dr. Markelov has refined surgical skills in all aspects of facial surgery, breast augmentation and reduction, and body sculpting. His clinical interests also include hand and wrist surgery, facial rejuvenation and anti-aging therapies.

Dr. Markelov has been the recipient of both the Arnold P. Gold Foundation Award for Humanism and Excellence in Teaching and the Golden Apple Teaching Award from Drexel University College of Medicine. His quality of care was also recognized by the Patients’ Choice Award in 2012.
As a teacher in the field of medical science, Dr. Markelov holds a Clinical Assistant Professor position at Ohio State University School of Medicine. Published extensively in the fields of plastic and general surgery, his work has appeared in more than 50 scientific publications. Dr. Markelov has also delivered presentations at regional, national and international meetings.
